Compare your original and processed video
A good comparison uses the same clip, same phone screen, and the same viewing conditions. Otherwise, it is easy to blame compression for differences caused by brightness, network, or display settings.
Three files to compare
- The original camera file.
- The downloaded ClearHDStatus output.
- The final file as it appears after posting to Status.
What to look at
Pause on faces, text, edges of buildings, dark areas, and fast movement. Look for blocky patches, sudden color bands, noisy shadows, and smearing around moving objects. Also compare file sizes so you understand how much the file changed before and after processing.
Use the same viewing setup
Screen brightness, data saver mode, and network loading can change what you think you are seeing. Compare both versions on the same phone with the same brightness. Let the status load fully before judging quality. If one version is still buffering, wait and replay it.
Compare motion, not only screenshots
A paused frame can help, but compression problems often appear while the video is moving. Watch the same three seconds several times. Look for faces smearing during movement, text pulsing, or backgrounds turning into square patches. Those signs tell you more than a single still image.
Keep the test fair
Do not compare two different videos. Do not compare one result on Wi-Fi and another while the app is still loading on mobile data. Use a short clip first so you can repeat the test quickly.
Write down the results
If you are testing many clips for a business page or creator account, keep a simple note with the original file size, processed file size, duration, and what changed after posting. Over time, you will learn which scenes need more care before upload.
Do not over-process
If the ClearHDStatus output already looks good, avoid running it through another compressor. Every extra lossy step can reduce detail. Go back to the original source if you need a different version instead of repeatedly compressing the same output file.
